Teeswater Sheep

Lustrous Locks | Rare British Breed | Fiber That Shines

At Southern Sheep Company, our Teeswaters are known for their gorgeous longwool fleeces and calm, trainable nature. They are one of the most striking breeds in our flock and consistently produce fleece that spinners, felters, and doll-makers seek out year after year.

A Rare Breed with Stunning Wool

Teeswaters are a British heritage breed prized for their lustrous, longwool locks. Each fleece has:

  • High natural shine (luster)

  • Beautiful curl structure

  • Staple lengths often over 10 inches

We raise these sheep intentionally for fiber, and every lamb born is evaluated for fleece quality, strength, and breed type. We don’t breed Teeswaters lightly—we do so with care, purpose, and with our fiber customers in mind

Lineage That Shows in the Fiber

Our flock’s Teeswater genetics include stock from respected longwool breeders across the U.S. We’ve worked hard to build a line that consistently yields:

  • Strong fleece structure with minimal matting

  • Distinct ringlets and soft handle

  • Clean, dyeable wool with natural brightness

We shear once a year, carefully hand-skirt fleeces, and set aside the best for raw fleece sales, dyed curls, and our own fiber kits.

Join Our Community

Every winter, we host an open shearing event where you can watch our Teeswaters get their annual cut and select fleeces in person. It's a great way to get involved, meet other fiber lovers, and see our sheep firsthand.

Teeswater Lambs & Breeding Stock

We usually have a limited number of Teeswater lambs available each year—these go quickly to fiber farms and artists across the Southeast. If you're looking for a specific fleece type or breeding pair, we recommend reaching out before lambing season.
